The Classic “Orange Chicken” like Panda Express!

You can customize this dish to your liking, but as described in this recipe it turns out pretty close to the restaurant. I like to spice it up a bit with red chili flakes or some sriracha afterward when serving.

Below are a few pics of a quick variation on the classic recipe. This batch was with thighs and no breading. The recipe usually calls for chicken breasts diced with eggs and cornstarch breading. Update coming soon.

Then combined and pan fried a bit with from-scratch orange sauce.

Classic Orange Chicken like Panda!

Equipment

  • Wok / Pan
  • Rice Cooker or Pot

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts (cut into bite-size pieces)
  • 3 Eggs whisked
  • 1/3 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup Flour
  • Salt
  • Oil for frying

Orange Sauce

  • 1 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Rice Vinegar or White Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce use tamari for a gluten-free dish
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder or 2 garlic cloves, finely diced
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chili Flakes
  • 1 tbsp Corn Starch
  • Orange Zest from 1 orange

  • Combine Everything and Serve!

Notes

Add more spice or sweetness as desired! I like to use a bit of extra spice in my dishes.
