Fried Honey Soy Chicken

Honey Chicken is a quick and easy dish that’s both simple and delicious!

With just a few ingredients, we’re able to craft a dish that has a rich depth of flavor and a sweet and tangy kick to it. As usual, I like to add a little bit of spice to my dishes, so mine has Korean chili flakes, but you’re free to mix it up however you and your family would like!

This is similar to Orange Chicken or General Tso’s but a bit sweeter and less tangy or spicy. It reminds me of a classic Chinese Food Buffet type of dish. Kinda half a mix of comfort food and classic Americanized “Chinese food” that a lot of us grew up on.

Ingredients

  • 2 Chicken Breasts
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Dried Chili Flakes
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup pancake mix
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup olive oil

Notes

Add the oil to the pan and heat on low.
Mix the pancake batter, water, egg, and flour in a mixing bowl and set aside.
Chop the chicken into cubes. Coat in the pancake mix. Increase the heat of the pan to medium/high and prep the oil for frying.
Add the pancake-coated chicken cubes into the hot pan and fry until golden brown. Remove each piece as it’s ready and set aside on a baking rack or plate with a paper towel.
Combine the sauce ingredients in a small pan on low heat. Mix until combined. Once ready, remove from heat and let cool a bit.
Heat the wok up to cooking temperature and add a small amount of oil. Add the sauce from the small pan and heat on low. Add the chicken and stir-fry and toss until the sauce is evenly coated on the chicken and fried a bit more.
Remove from heat and serve with rice or your choice of sides. Enjoy!
